The Scholar Award recognizes promising young scientists working in the field of cancer research. During the Annual Forum recipients of the award have an unrivaled opportunity to interact with international experts in a particular field of cancer research. In addition, award recipients will be invited to participate in the Foundation's Scholar Retreats. Scholars are selected by competitive application and have been consistently outstanding. Nomination must be made by a letter of recommendation from the applicant's director of studies. Applicants will be selected by our Scientific Advisory Board.

The Forbeck Scholar Retreat is a meeting focused on Scholars who have attended the South Carolina meeting. The Retreat is comprised of 16 scholars, 4 senior investigators as mentors and a key note speaker.

The objective of enabling this camaraderie among outstanding scientists is to:

• Expedite current research
• Initiate new and novel paths in science
• Bridge the gap between institutions and scientific specializations
• Share issues relating to the career path of a young investigator
