The objective of the Scholar Retreat has been to "support the younger generation of scientists in cancer research". Working with the foundation's Scientific Advisory Board as well as the 2004 Scholars and Forum Chairmen, they developed plans for a new program that expands on the Foundation's Scholar program. It is not the purpose to discuss published research, but to provide a forum for the cross fertilization of ideas, concepts, and observations. The goal of the "think tank" environment is to encourage the exchange of ideas freely in the hope of building on each other's ideas, knowledge, and experience.
The Forbeck Scholar Retreat will be a meeting focused on the past 4 years of scholars that have attended the South Carolina meeting. The Retreat will be comprised of 16 scholars and 4 - 5 senior investigators as mentors. The objective will be to continue and encourage interaction among these outstanding scholars, to provide the opportunity to exchange ideas with senior researchers, and to help expedite future research.
Thursday, September 16th - Sunday, September 19th
Please arrive no later than 6:00 PM on Thursday.
Plan on departing anytime on Sunday.
Please plan to stay the entire length of the meeting.
