Friends and Supporters,

Some of you may be familiar with the terms Black Friday and Cyber Monday, two popular days of shopping that follow Thanksgiving but we wanted to let you know about a special day to give back known as Giving Tuesday. Giving Tuesday refers to the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. This year it is December 1st. It is a movement to create a national day of giving at the beginning of the Christmas holiday season.

This year we want to use Giving Tuesday as a reminder of how cancer can touch any of us, at any time in our lives. For Giving Tuesday we want to remember WGFRF friend and supporter Charlie Howden. Charlie had an idea for a fundraiser and set out to paddle board along the coast of Costa Rica to raise funds for WGFRF. Sadly, soon after he committed to his trip he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. With the support of his friends and family he continued with his plans and traveled over 200 miles. Charlie passed away this past September.

Charlie’s story is a reminder of how important the work of WGFRF is. We have been bringing some of the best minds together in cancer research for 31 years. We hope with your continued help in supporting this cutting-edge research, there won’t be a need for 31 more.

Please help us make Giving Tuesday a success for WGFRF!

Remember to check with your company to see if they will match your gift!
